Take Your Best Shot – 12 December 2020

The previous one was friggin awesome… so we are doing another one!!

Just to relax, shoot and have fun!

We would like to invite you to join us for a little friendly, camera club style, “Take your best Shot” shooting day!

Join us on the day as a Photographer+Model team with a buy-in of R200 (100% for the prize pot) – The winning team can split the pot as they see fit!

Each team can shoot to their heart’s content in the various venues and at the end of the day, you choose your best shot (only 1 shot!), all the teams vote over beers in the bar, and the winning team takes the pot!

We have two rooms available to work in (so two bedrooms/two bathrooms), as well as various public spaces around the hotel (which includes the wine cellar venue, cigar lounge and our royal lounge. There is also a covered walkway and a small open-air fitness area… too many areas to cover in one day!

Practically we will have to allocate slots for time to shoot in the rooms, and we cannot inconvenience other guests of the hotel (otherwise we will never be able to use the venue again!)

As it stands, we can unfortunately only accommodate 10 teams.

Running of the day:

8am – 9am: Meet up and have a Coffee or Breakfast
9am:              Admin and practical arrangements (what is where, etc)
9:30-4pm:   Shoot to your hearts content
4pm:           Meet up in the Sports-bar, Pashash, for beers, Voting and “Prize” giving

  • The purpose is to have fun and get back to why we started shooting…
  • We have two bar/restaurant areas – The fine dining restaurant has two functions there, we cannot shoot there, but you can eat there or at the Gourmet Pizza side (Pashash Pizza, Pub & Grill – Pizza start at R35, so you will not break the bank)
  • Food and drinks are for your own account
  • Damages – again, for your account
  • NO nudity, implied nudity or lingerie in Public Areas. NO excuses, NO explanations, NO exceptions – In the rooms, no problem, (except for balconies) – I think you get the idea…

Lock in your place in the form below

All rooms are still cleaned and sanitised according to the requirements set forth by the government as well as suggested measures by TTA, TBCSA & FEDHASA

Only guests of the Royal Elephant Hotel and Conferencing & Function guests may use the Hotel and Grounds for Photoshoots.

Because of this, a photographer will need to book a room for Day-Use should they want to shoot at the Royal Elephant. If no rooms are available, we are too busy to be able to accommodate you for a photo shoot.

Even if you do not intend to use a room to shoot in, we still require the room booking and you can use the room as a location to prep in (styling, Hair and Make-up) as well as a storage area for wardrobe and equipment not used for a specific part of your shoot (it helps to keep clutter in public areas to a minimum and also reduces the chance of theft or other losses.

a Day-Use room allows…

  • Usage for 1 to 6 hours,
  • Checkout no later than 5pm – Delays in Checkout will switch your room to an overnight stay and create a new booking for you.
  • no sleepover allowed,
  • a max of 6 people (photographers, assistants, stylists and models all included)

You may also shoot in hotel public spaces, as long as they are not occupied by other guests, or interfering with the safety and/or tranquillity of other guests and patrons. Please ask the Media Manager if you are unsure!

The Social Distancing Guidelines for Business is as follows:

  • Remain 1,5m apart at all times
  • Face Masks are required in all public areas. Face shields for any “close-in” contact where a distance of 1.5m cannot be maintained
  • Frequently sanitize and adhere to handwashing guidelines
  • Refrain from clustering in groups

Please pay attention to LockDown Guidelines and requirements, especially when shooting behind the scenes images and video. Whether you agree with the COVID requirements or not, for us to keep on operating and serve you, we need to comply 100%
